In both the manufacturing and service sectors, the buzz is all about outsourcing but insourcing – job-creating investments in the U.S. and Canada by foreign-based firms – is also strong.

Take a look at these statistics and you’ll quickly understand why so many communities, regions and state/provincial governments are working hard to attract foreign investment. In the U.S. alone, new foreign investment totaled $39.9 billion in 2003. Additionally, the U.S. subsidiaries of foreign-based companies:

Technology Business Briefings

The Greater Waco Chamber hosted the second quarterly Technology Business Briefing at the Baylor Engineering School recently on February 9.  We had a good crowd of 30+ attending.  Dr. Ben Kelley, Dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science, presented a powerpoint presentation about the School focusing on its brief history, its remarkable accomplishments in staff and students, research programs and international outreach.  It was a great presentation that we will include on the reports section of the Waco Chamber website.  Watch for it.
