Voters on Saturday approved $248 million of bonds for school improvements in the Waco and Midway Independent School Districts.
The election came one year after city voters approved $63 million of bonds to rennovate the Convention Center, redevelop Cameron Park and for a new police facility, two fire stations, and improvements to libraries and the Texas Ranger Museum.
In November 2006, a $74.5 million-bond issue was approved for new buildings and capital improvements at McLennan Community College.
These victories are signs of a confident and caring community that is committed to an even brighter future. Kudos to the volunteer committees led by Ralph Cooper (Waco) and Ken Cooper (Midway) for mobilizing voters to invest in our schools. And thanks to our Chamber's officers, directors and members for weighing in on these important issues and for investing the time and resources it takes to make Greater Waco an even better place to live and do business.
